Pls. Advice.

Hi, I am 38 years old. Only 2 years back I came to know that I have only 1 kidney probably by birth(Renal Agenisis). Confirmed through both ultrasound and CT scan. From that day I am constantly worried. I have high uric and gout issue. Also there are high triglycerides. I am vegetarian and avoid deep fried and sugar foods. How can I live a good life with only one kidney. What precautions and preventive health checks should I take.

Dear Doctor Saheb, I Anil Agrawal 60 Yrs., vegetarian nonalcoholic nonsmoker, nondiabetic but BP approx. 90 and 135 - reach 150 but take medicine so under control BP, a kidney patient since Oct 2019 (Creatinine serum was 3.5) due to UTI and UTI reoccurred also. However, nowadays Creatinine serum level is 1.45 to 1.60 after keeping food intake contravening grease foods. avoid Peanuts, Kaju, Tomato, Brinjal, whole dals etc., Should I continue like this or can take liberty in daily food habit. In marriage I take few sweets selectively. This is OK. I have hernia on left side right side operated in yr. 2000, Should I go for Operation as some time its irritate while longstanding and little discomfort to me. Kindly advise. Thank you.

Ans: Occasional relaxation with the food habits is fine. You can go ahead with the hernia surgery. Make sure that you are not put on medications which is harmful to the kidney especially pain killers.

I am used to take medicines for depression / pain in brain from a qualified doctor. I am now 77plus aged with moderate health take medicines for Thyroid pressure , in addition . Recently I was asked to take blood test for Creatinine and urine . It was creatinine value 2 and urine within range . I was asked to avoid fish , egg & chicken daily rather at alternate days . After 3 months creatinine value came down t0 1.2 . I do regular free hand exercise and medicines . Should I continue the same medicines for next 6 months or change it ? I am following diet as said . Is there any chance of kidney infection in near future ? With all medicines I take I am quite fit but feel disturbed to take so many tablets since long time . Dr your advice is necessary .

Ans: Follow the diet strictly and continue same medicines sir. Avoid pain killers.

Doctor suggesting for dialysis but I am not at all interested for dialysis due to financial problems.Please suggest an alternate remedy for fast recovery.

Ans: If it is chronic kidney disease and if there are no reversible factors, dialysis is the only option or to consider transplant if clinically fit. It is better not to wait till you develop complications of kidney disease. It is better to consider dialysis early.

Hello I am Agnelo Vijayan, Presently my Cretiane level is 1.6 and 1.7, it had my kidney Biopsy test Doctors are saying that due to high BP my kidneys tissue was damange upto 55 percent so only your cretaine level is not reducing, it is not possible to develp that spolied tissues also so be control and reduce your BP thats it we can do. Now Iam taking tablets for BP, Atnol, Amlong, Arakamin. Please give me suggestions to increse or to reboot my Kidney death cells. Because Doctors are saying no way to reboot that death tissues, is it not possible or we can please give me suggestion.

Ans: Probably there is permanent damage in the kidneys. There is no specific curative treatment as of now in terms of medications. Keep regular follow up with the nephrologist and take measures to slow down the progression of kidney disease.

I am 57, have CKD, with a pair of cysts on the left Kidney ( as per the last USG Report, Two Anechoic Round Cysts noted arising from Mid Pole of the Left Kidney growing exophytic, measuring 6.3 x 7.0 cms & 1.2 x 1.5 cms. ). T/R/O Bilateral renal parenchymal disease as per last USG Report on 29.7.2022. I lead a normal life, do exercises regularly, have a slight ache around the left side of the back, between the spine and the ribs ( had spondylitis in 2018 ) but other than that no other issues as such. I drink one to two pegs of Whiskey for 4 days a week. Non-Veg, have high pressure and cholesterol ( 185 ), for which I take medicines. Glucose Fasting level last checked in January, 2023 was - 106.50, while Creatinine was around 2.19, last checked was 2.06 in January, 2023. Please advise, if I should continue the same way. Thanks.

Ans: Have regular follow up with the Nephrologist and get necessary blood tests and adjust the medications based on that. Alcohol intake has to be reduced.
